Speaking of contests.... Go on over to the Hopkins family blog - they are giving away a Kindle fire - how awesome is that... and you know youve been wanting one. And all the money raised goes to bring that sweet little boy in the picture above (which I didnt take) home to his forever family. Isnt he sweet? The Hopkins adopted a little girl from Hong Kong a little bit back (like us!) and now they are going to Europe for a son! And you can be a part of their journey.... its so exciting. And speaking from experience in the adoption world - its hard. Its really hard. But you have no idea how encouraging it is when people support you - even with small amounts - $1, $5, $10 - it may not seem like much in the grand scheme of things, but to that family, I guarantee you, its huge.

And now we are down to Day 11 of the countdown to the Sins show... Im on pins and needles and cant wait.... so much good stuff happening... :)

Also, we now start the final countdown to the 7 Sins show. We are at day 12. I have worked on this series for what? 3 months now so I couldnt be more excited for them to finally be coming out... :) The show will be next Saturday, July 7th from 5:30 - 7:30 - free food and drinks are provided and all the artwork is for sale as well. Id love to have everyone come out and see the show! Im definitely looking forward to finally seeing all 7 prints up and together!

Free Bridals - Columbus MS Photographer

Ok, so up for grabs today is a free bridal shoot at the Dismals. Have you ever been to the Dismals? Its in northern Alabama about 2 hours from Columbus. It is amazing. You walk down the steps into the canyon and its lush and green with waterfalls, moss and creeks running through the whole thing. It looks like you stepped back into time or crossed over into some fairy world. Talk about amazing.... you can view some pictures here.

So here is the deal... Id love to bless a bride with some bridals that maybe she cant afford or couldnt afford. Maybe you eloped and never had the time or money to do real pictures... or maybe your pictures turned out horribly? Everyone deserves to feel beautiful and have some beautiful pictures of themselves to celebrate. Or maybe there is a woman (mom, sister, wife) that needs a pick me up - to feel beautiful for the day.

Even better... I have wedding dresses on hand, in most sizes... so even if you werent able to get a dress or dont want to get yours dirty, you can just borrow one of mine and just have fun.... and trust me, I do have some gorgeous dresses - in all sizes and shapes (including some gorgeous vintage dresses!).... that dress in the picture at the top is one I own as well (yes, Im serious!).

The only catch is that you need to be healthy enough to do alot of walking/hiking, but otherwise this contest is open to anyone and everyone... :)

Cute Idea - Columbus MS Photographer

So a few weekends ago, we went and spent the weekend with some of Daniel's family and it was such a blessing... it was also his grandmother's birthday, and we all call her Oma. The thing is we had no idea what to get her. So I came up with a fun idea because she loves pics of the kids.... I found one of those collage frames that has 3 windows in a row, so each letter went in a different window to spell out Oma... and then we framed the last one separate, so she can keep them together or put them separately... she loved them!

Just wanted to say a Happy Fathers Day to all the wonderful dads out there... especially my baby daddy... ha ha ha. He is pretty awesome and Im lucky that he stays with me... :)

But happy Fathers Day to all the guys out there - the ones who stay, the ones who make it through, the ones who work long hours, the ones who miss sleep, the ones who change diapers, and the guys that arent fathers but fill in for the fathers that arent there... you are so valued!

Help a Girl Out?

ok, I think Ive told you a million times, but Im re-working my website and products and promotional stuff.... blah, blah, blah...

Anyway... now, I need YOUR help... yes, YOU - if you are reading this, then not only would I love a comment or email, I actually need it.

Im looking to do a FAQ section... but now Im at a loss as to what people want to know.... so here is where you come in. Can you please tell me what youve always wanted to know about me or a photography session. If you were going to do a session, what would be the things you would ask before we got started.

I cant do this without you... please help me not fail - if left up to my own devices, I will.... :)

I would also love to hear any suggestions on how I can make the website, blog, sessions, anything, better... its much easier to know whats working and whats not when you are looking from the outside...

So yes.... can you help a girl out?

Brianna - Columbus MS Photographer

Ok, yall can quit calling me a tease now because look! Im actually getting Brianna's pictures up. Brianna is my neice and I think she is gorgeous - she is tall, has the most perfect skin and freckles, and these long limbs and neck that she doesnt quite know what to do with - meaning that I knew she was beautiful, but she has a harder time believing that sometimes.... and she just happened to be staying at our house one night, and if you are staying at our house, there is a pretty good chance Im going to make you pose for some pics... :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE how these turned out... and I love that Brianna was true to herself and wore her glasses -she totally rocked these out! (can yall believe she is only 13?!!!)So yeah... I think Brianna definitely has a bright future in modeling if she wants it... actually I think she has a bright future no matter what she decides to do. :)

So here is a fairly recent pic of my most excellent husband, Daniel. Weve been married for 10 years now and I love him so much that I cover him in blood... ha ha... :)

Actually... this is a hint picture for all of yall out there waiting on the Sins shoot. I AM ABSOLUTELY DYING TO SHOW THEM... but I cant... you are going to have to come to the show to see them in all their printed glory.... but if I get alot of comments/interest, I may show you a few more hint pictures... Man, does this man look hot or what... I cant stand it. And I wont even go into all the ways he is just plain out awesome b/c most of you would probably want to come steal him from me, and I cant have that.

A huge congratulations to Daniel also for getting the male lead in The Rose Tattoo... it will be playing here in Columbus in September as part of the Tennessee Williams Tribute weekend.

Emma - Columbus MS Photographer

So another one of Emma's pics got picked up by Offbeat Mama... you can view it here. How cool is that? Also, wanted to let everyone know that there is an art show tonight at the Renee Reedy studio. Its downtown across from the Rosenweig and under Cafe on Main. Its a come and go event and is from 5:30 - 7:30... Its entitled Light and Glass (no, this is not the much anticipated Sins show) - it features work by different glass artists and photographers with an emphasis on light.... 4 of my works will be on display and for sale.

And if you want to make it a fun night, Cafe Aromas is right down the street for some fun food and then Sounds of Summer starts tonight at the Riverwalk with a free concert from the Juke Joint Gypsies... should be fun and both the art show and concert are a great way to introduce your kids to the arts.

Emma's haircut - Columbus MS Photographer

I couldnt wait until Friday to show you whats been happening at our house... :)

If youve met my daughter, Emma, then you know she has really, really long hair... in fact, she had never had a real haircut (just trimmings) in all of her 5 years... of course, she didnt have any hair until she was about 2 as well... but weve been letting it grow so she could donate it (she has THE most gorgeous hair), and we promised that she could cut it once summer got here - she was surely ready....

So here is the before... And here is the after.... 9 inches cut off... and she picked out the cut herself (I tried to persuade her into a pixie cut, but she was having none of it!)
I already miss the long hair, but she still looks so cute, and is really enjoying it... :)
