The Many Faces of Riley - Columbus Ms Photographer

If youve been reading the blog, then you are probably familiar with my buddy, Riley, here.  He is always the man of 1000 faces - he is so animated and oh, just the sweetest - he is constantly trying to share his stuff... I just love him and his family so much.

 The leaves were just heavenly when we did these...

He just keeps growing on me... every time I see him, he is bigger than I think he should be.... :)

So good news for all you art lovers - or friends and family of art lovers... :)   The Rosenweig gallery which is downtown Columbus... is having an art show all of December - its packed with works from local artists (including me!) and everything is $100 or less..... if you can find some original artwork for cheaper than I dare you to tell me where... these arent prints, they are the actual, originals.... I went up there Sunday to see what all was up there, and its packed with a ton of great stuff - I saw a few things I wanted right off the bat.... and if you are interested, I have 6 of my favorite prints up there as well.

Im giving yall a heads up b/c the show actually kicks off this Friday at Wassailfest.... if youve ever been to Wassailfest, then you know how quickly it gets extremely crowded very quickly, so if you are wanting to view the art, the Rosenweig would be my first stop Friday night - and if you see something you like, go ahead and grab it b/c it probably wont be there at the end of the night... if you havent been to Wassailfest, then you should definitely check it out, it is so much fun... :)

Tomorrow!!!!! - Columbus MS Photographer

Tomorrow is the day!!!! Im so excited! Tomorrow is the art show for the Seven Deadly Sins - Ive been working on these since April!!! Thats 3 months of working on one project and tomorrow it will all be revealed. I couldnt love these prints any more than I already do.... this has been one of my most favorite projects - b/c I did them my way, without having to take any advice or instructions from anyone else, so they could be as weird or crazy as I wanted. And I love them.

And get this... each one is printed on a gorgeous 16x24 canvas. They look amazing.

The show is tomorrow from 5:30 - 7:30 at the Renee Reedy studio in downtown Columbus - its across from the Rosenweig and under Cafe on Main. Its come and go and free food and drinks are provided so definitely a win-win.

Please come and stop by and say hey to me... you have no idea how much it would mean on this particular show.... :)

Also, each canvas will be available for purchase for only $150 (canvases this size are normally around $300), or you can buy the whole set for $700.... or next week, I will be offering them for only $100 each or buy the whole set for $500. The catch is that if you wait, the one you wanted may be gone. I only plan to ever print one - and these are available at the show. Tomorrow!

Speaking of contests.... Go on over to the Hopkins family blog - they are giving away a Kindle fire - how awesome is that... and you know youve been wanting one. And all the money raised goes to bring that sweet little boy in the picture above (which I didnt take) home to his forever family. Isnt he sweet? The Hopkins adopted a little girl from Hong Kong a little bit back (like us!) and now they are going to Europe for a son! And you can be a part of their journey.... its so exciting. And speaking from experience in the adoption world - its hard. Its really hard. But you have no idea how encouraging it is when people support you - even with small amounts - $1, $5, $10 - it may not seem like much in the grand scheme of things, but to that family, I guarantee you, its huge.

And now we are down to Day 11 of the countdown to the Sins show... Im on pins and needles and cant wait.... so much good stuff happening... :)

So another one of Emma's pics got picked up by Offbeat Mama... you can view it here. How cool is that? Also, wanted to let everyone know that there is an art show tonight at the Renee Reedy studio. Its downtown across from the Rosenweig and under Cafe on Main. Its a come and go event and is from 5:30 - 7:30... Its entitled Light and Glass (no, this is not the much anticipated Sins show) - it features work by different glass artists and photographers with an emphasis on light.... 4 of my works will be on display and for sale.

And if you want to make it a fun night, Cafe Aromas is right down the street for some fun food and then Sounds of Summer starts tonight at the Riverwalk with a free concert from the Juke Joint Gypsies... should be fun and both the art show and concert are a great way to introduce your kids to the arts.

I just found out this morning that I didnt win the Peoples Choice award at Market Street, which is ok... but I wanted to thank everyone who voted - that means the world to me!

Also, my art work will still be on display and for sale for the rest of this month at the Rosenweig, so if you didnt get to see it, you can still stop by. They are open Tuesday through Saturday 9-5.

This afternoon are 2 shoots that Ive been waiting weeks for... and now they are here... cant give too much away, but oh man, am I excited! I cant wait to show you the final results when it all comes together - its going to be so dynamic!

Personal Friday - Columbus MS Photographer

Since Market Street is tomorrow, I thought Id offer a Personal Friday picture from Market Street 5 years ago... isnt Gabe cute?!! All that messy, blonde hair.... it never gets that long anymore.

Speaking of Market Street... if you are going, dont forget to stop and take a peek in the Rosenweig at the art show. Three of my pieces made it in!

And I just found out that there is a People's Choice Award! That means YOU get to vote - how cool is that? Anyway, if you have a favorite, definitely vote for it... but if you dont, Id love it if you'd vote for my Red Riding Hood picture.

If you cant make it tomorrow, no worries... the show will be up all month and the arts center is open Tuesday - Saturday, 9-5, so take a minute and go see some awesome work. I was so, so excited to be included.

Merit Award - Columbus MS Photographer

As I mentioned earlier... I participated in the Cotton District Arts Festival Jurored art show this past Saturday... and I won a Merit Award.  I was so, so excited!

I entered 3 photos, and the one that I loved was the one that took the award.  It made me feel so validated as an artist.  There is absolutly no better feeling than to know that someone believes in your work.  Amazing!

Hey, I am sincerely enjoying all the feedback Ive been getting from the Cinderella shoots - I love that yall love it - that makes me happy.... :)

I wanted to let you know that Ive been published again... and I couldnt be more excited.

Maritta (Cinderella) did another interview with Unique Modeling & ET Magazine... and they used one of the shots from the Cinderella shoot... check out page 27 here

Also, I was interviewed by The Real Story - small, local, Columbus paper (it can be found at most local gas stations).... it turned out so good, and I was so excited to be featured! Thank you so much to everyone there, especially Candy, Chris and Joe!

Also... if you are interested in art... you should go by the Cotton District Arts Festival this Saturday in Starkville - its free and perfect for a family fun day... while you are there, check out the juried art show - I got accepted into it, and from what Ive heard, this is no small feat - color me excited, seriously! It will only be up from 9-4 this Saturday so please come by and check it out... :)

Art Show and Abby! - Columbus MS Photographer

Just wanted to let everyone know that there will be an independent art show tomorrow evening (5:30 -7:30) at the downtown Columbus studio of Renee Reedy (right under Cafe on Main!) - some of my work will be featured and also will be for sale. I would absolutely love the support of anyone who wants to come by. (and I have been told that the show is completely kid friendly, so dont let that hinder you coming)... I really do look forward to seeing you there!

Ok, as promised... here are Abby's pics. I was so excited to shoot them, and during editing, I just fell in love with them all over. Can you believe Abby has never modeled before? She was amazing and I hope to work with her again.

Ok, get ready for some awesomeness.(no, I did not enhance the color of her eyes at all - wow!)In love with this light!Thank you Abby for helping me bring this set to life... you are amazing and beautiful - I hope you know that!

Ok, let me just say wow! I have been booking like crazy lately and I am so, so, so excited.... in fact, Im now booking for June and July (still have a few weekday afternoons available in April and May if you are interested).... I cant tell you how excited I am to be working, to be creating, to be making new memories and friends. So, so good... and I have no one to thank, but you!

And Im really excited about the art show tomorrow as well.... this will be my first offical gallery show and I cant even describe how that makes me feel. Thank you to everyone who made this happen. I am completely indebted to you.
