Springing Forward

I sat and watched my daughter suck her thumb while sitting in my mother's lap... thinking about how lucky I was to be a part of four generations of women all in the same house at that very moment... my grandmother's voice rang out.... did you know that the time changes this Sunday? None of us did.... it seems quite early this year, but its all fine with me... I am certainly ready for the longer days.... to have a few more minutes of that fleeting "golden hour" that is right before sunset.... makes me warm just thinking about it....

so... dont forget that the time changes this Sunday... dont forget to "spring forward"

Another quick something of note.... I will be at Coopers Closet Wednesday - Saturday of next week.... which means I will have limited email during that time.... I will have the phone on me though, so if you need me, feel free to call.... or even better.... please, please, please come by and see me... I do so have visions of grandeur in my head of meeting all of you - I would hate to feel silly if no one came and talked to me the whole time I was there....

Oh, and feel free to leave comments as well... I adore reading them.... Im thinking of having a contest in a few weeks.... anyone interested? What do you think would be a good prize?

Coopers Closet

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be a vendor at Coopers Closet this year.... and I could not be more excited!

It will be in Columbus, in the old Ace Hardware building.... right next to Ashley furniture and behind the new McAllisters... It will be March 12th (10-7), 13th (10-7) and March 14th (9-2, half price!)

So please, please, please come by my booth and visit with me... or else I will feel really silly sitting there with nothing to do.... even if you arent interested in kid's clothes, stop in for a minute.

I will have some new products there so you should definitely come check them out.... which include some huge canvases, a new hinged album and a new wallet-book.... so if youve been wondering what all I have to offer, please come see me..... or if youve just been wanting to sit and chat.... please feel free to come by. And this isnt just for parents.... if you are getting married and need a photographer, come see me!

Blessed

This week has brought many blessings....

If you live in Columbus and read the Commercial Dispatch, then you may be wondering why the above picture looks so familiar..... well, it would be because it was the cover of the Sunday paper's wedding insert. I beamed when I saw it - it feels amazing to be rewarded for doing something you love. So I have to take a minute to thank Kristi and Hayes (the bride and groom) for being amazing and beautiful and the sweetest people ever. I am honored that they let me be a part of such a wonderful day. Also, thanks to the Commercial Dispatch for letting us "little-known" photographers break into the scene every once in awhile.

And.... Yesterday was my 7th anniversary... with no itch, even.... These have been the best 7 years of my life, and I owe it all to the most wonderful, beautiful, amazing man.... He just gets me and lets me be me.... I couldnt ask for anything better.... 7 years ago today, I wasnt sure that I could love him more than I did in that moment, but it has happened.... and it has been magic!

To all my couples.... I wish you all the joy that Ive had.... :)

And I want to say thank you to everyone who has left a comment or emailed me or let me have the privilege of working with you.... I owe so much to you.... on my bad days, you keep me going.... on my good days, you make it even sweeter.... I dont have words enough to thank you for allowing me the joy of doing what I love....

Happy Valentines Week!

Valentines Day.... one of my most favorite holidays..... I am, after all, a romantic at heart! That's how I roll..... :)

Anyway, if you remember a few posts back, I started going soft on you and telling you about Valentines Day cards and how we no longer subscribe to the idea that you have to be generic and just like everyone else.... We always do photo Valentines cards.... they are so much more personal.... and they give me an excuse to go take pictures of my kids.... love it!

So I thought I would give you a few ideas for next year....

We had a hard time choosing.... and Daniel and I couldnt agree on favorites.... so we didnt.... we choose 3 for each one and will give an assortment.... who says they all have to be the same?

Business Cards

I figured it was about time that I finally get some business cards.... but who do I turn to... I, personally, am not a graphic designer - no matter how creative I am....


I needed someone with experience, a sweet personality who wouldnt mind me being picky... and someone who knew me and what I liked..... so where was I going to find the perfect person? Well, I didnt need to look any further than Jenny Holloway Designs - Jenny is amazing, and the sweetest. She is so good at what she does.... you should check her new Valentine cards she has out - uber-cute and totally customizable.


How awesome is this?!!! I love it!

secrets....

I thought I would share a few secrets with all my faithful blog readers (and new ones too!)

The first being..... I love America's Next Top Model.... I honestly could do without all the drama, but I do adore those photo shoots..... if youve seen the show then you know the type of shoots I am talking about.... they are way way out there, but they look like so much fun and they always push the boundaries.... this is where I want to take my photographer.... always to the limit - actually, I want to push the limits of what is possible and go way past the limits of what is expected of me...

Ok, secret number two.... I do model shoots on the side.... these are always fun and if you have a good model you can get some amazing pictures.... I would love to do something so "out of the box" for some day-after wedding pics or senior pics.... something totally different...

So.... with that introduction, let me make another.... this is Allie.... she is a model I worked with recently, and we had a ball.... I adore how these turned out and thought I would share them with you lovely people (if you are a photographer and want to work with Allie, shoot me an email and Ill get you in touch)

You guys know how much I love the graphic black and whites, right?

So want to know another secret? Yeah, I thought so.... I love really dark and almost gothy pictures.... nothing gory or gross, but dark and alluring.... take these deer pictures for example.... not what you are expecting to see, but gorgeous nonetheless and definitely some of my favorites from the shoot....

How super-glamorous are these?!!

I love the whole alice in wonderland feel of these....

Thane

Once again, God smiled down upon me and blessed us with another gorgeous day - right smack dab in the middle of winter. It was beautiful and sunny and we had an amazing time just playing around. I also got really lucky when I got such an adorable little man - who was so well behaved... no fussing at all. Gotta love it when everything is going right.

After the park, we headed over to Thane's house.... where I just happened to spy the coffee table in the garage where it was being stored while they were cleaning up.... as always, I ask for some crazy, but I just love how these turned out
